This may be a silly question but does anyone make an adapter to put a K mount lens on a screw mount Pentax? Everyone seems to wanna put old lenses on newer cameras, but how about the opposite?

Adapting in this direction is not possible. The M42 mount is smaller in diameter and both mounts share the same registration distance.

While I agree with what stevebrot said, you could convert some k-mount lenses to m42, but it would be a hack & a one way trip.

It would be kinda easy to hack an old K-mount teleconverter by changing the camera end to a screw mount. Or take the glass elements out of the converter when you hack it, and use it for close-up shots. It would be manual aperture, tho.

The other option may be to replace the mount on a Spotmatic SP II to K-mount. However, why not just get a KM and be done with it.

Thanks for the replies. I was asking because I wanted to use a K mount lens on my K20 w/ my M42 extension tubes. The ones I have are original Pentax. I have searched the forum & couldn't find out if there were a decent set of K mount tubes. All of the cheap ones I see on ebay haven't gotten good reviews (that I've seen)!

The Pentax manual or automatic k-mount extension tubes will work as good in the case of the manual, or better in case of the automatic ones than the m42 tubes. There is also a set of Vivitar that have the linkages like the auto Pentax ones. No one makes any with the A contacts or AF except Kenko and those are out of production and hard to find use.

Get a 2x teleconverter with the "A" contacts ( try ebay ) and remove the glass elements - You will then have a ~25mm extension tube that will work on your DSLR with auto exposure.
