Silly question...M42 rear lens caps

I know this might sound silly, but I need to order a few M42 rear caps and do not know if metal is preferable to plastic caps? I have an SMC Tak 50/2, the version with the rubber focuing ring grip, that needs a cap and figure I will order extras just in case. But I don't know if the original caps were metal.

Plastic works fine. Check on ebay - some sellers have quantity deals.

Thanks for the info. I have an eBay seller I buy all my lens caps (good prices, US based and honest) from but he has no metal caps so I thought I would ask about metal since it might have been metal to begin with when the lens was new.

The originals were plastic - at least as far back as Super Takumar.

perfect...THANKS...I was figuring they were plastic. And plastic would actually be safer for the threads on the lens if it were banged around or ever dropped. So, more pinch caps, a couple M42 body caps and a handfull of lens caps as well...thanks guys!!
