No and even sending an email to the seller to state that could get Ebay sending you an email. They want the most money for each item sold. They might promote being a great place to save money but their existance is built on max $$ for each item. They could care less about buyers and sellers and only answer to the shareholders. They will never make a change that could possibly cost them a nickel.

Just educate yourself, Check KEH, Adorama, B&H, Amazon Etc and Resellers.com if you find a "too good to be true online deal.

God, I hate Salesmen (not the capital "S".)
you can include those pesky call center agents that won't let you off the phone or give the chance to say NO !!!

Just a little plug, the marketplace is a lot more reasonable in general here on the Pentax Forums and folks are generally honest. I appreciate that. I have tended to shy away from e bay ever since I had a bad experience. I still look at Prodigital now and then, but nothing else from a camera stand point.

Absolutely agree, sort of....as far as eBay I could really give ya inside info on them but can't due to EULA I signed a long time ago. But I can say that their entire approach to bringing in retail type sellers shot the site in the foot...hell, I long for the days of site crashes and people selling porn & pot seeds on the site...it was FUN back then. These days I am just unloading inventory so I can sell this place and get the heck outta California after being born and raised in this toilet by the sea.

BTW, every time eBay actually runs a TV ad campaign, sales skyrocket and I don't sell retail stuff just antiques & collectible stuff. Soon as they stop, sales drop off the face of the earth. Happens like clockwork. When they were running their "Get barely used stuff" campaign, it was like the old days again...for a few weeks. Now, nuttin' just like they always do, eBay never sustains the effort. TV ads SELL and...well, not gonna rant about stuff with eBay.

I am over trying to help folks learn to protect themselves against themselves. If someone is dumb enough to buy from a source which they have not researched or have not taken the time to understand the pitfalls of buying online from sources which have a sketchy history....wellll, tough for them.

Best anyone can do is point folks to the tools where they can learn...but few people will bother to really research...hell, we can't hardly get them to read a full description on our eBay auctions. And I have everything laid out very cleanly in a quite non-obnoxious fashion.

I love reading ads like you found though...funny as can be. I am willing to bet they guy lives around the corner from some place where he can buy a lens the day he sells it...he hopes to make a fast $50-$80.

Oh, if you look at the picture URL it points to a site which provides product info...what is the over/under that the dolt pretty much copied it all from another seller's listing? Those product-info data sites charge a fee and this guy thought he could just scarf the content AND bandwidth from the service. tsk-tsk-tsk....shame on him. hehehehe...what a maroon...

I too have to give a vote for The Marketplace here on PF...had several txns which have all been great. Just made a fun trade to replace my 43ltd that I had to sell a couple months back. See plenty of nice prices on really nice gear...all well cared for as a rule.

That's a good pic of the customer service people down the bottom of the Ebay page.A good shallow DOP to focus on the chick in the middle.I wonder if that photographer used a DA 70mm and got the 'There price'deal
