Lens Hood Issue

Any one have problems with the lens hood on their DA* 16-50 sticking? Sometimes I find it almost impossible to remove it from the lens. I always use the hood and reverse it for storage in the bag when not in use. It's not cross threaded just gets very tight on the lens. You almost have to grab it in a certain spot to get it loose.

I occasionally have a bit of a problem with this as well and also on the DA 17-70. It's mostly operator error in my opinion as it's somewhat easy to cross thread. Hmmm...you said that it's not cross threaded. In that case I don't have that problem but it is very easy to cross thread. Now if you want to talk about problem hoods, my Tamron 18-250 lens hood is a PITA to put on.

The only time I have had any problem is when I have not been careful to check it is on square before I try to rotate it to lock it.

I have had this problem with some of my lenses, they seem so stiff that you are afraid of damaging them.

I work a little soap into the hood bayonette to lubricate it

I know what you mean. The 16-50's hood in particular gets tight in certain positions, and does take some coercing to get off. Nothing drastic, though. Do be gentle when getting it on and off.

Hey Ash,

I think thats what caused my lens to get jammed up the other day, trying to get the hood off without holding the barrel tight.

I have this issue with the DA 16-45. It's not hard to get on, but sometimes it is very difficult to take off.
