I'm trying to find information on Auto-Focus lenses made by Chinon for Pentax SLR'S. There is a set of AF Chinons on ebay for a $10 starting price. One is a 70-210mm 1:4.5 and the other is a 28-70mm 1:3.5-4. I have a Chinon 1:1.9 50mm (manual focus) and it is a great lens. If I could find some info, I believe ten bucks for these 2 might be a good deal
Has anybody out there ever had any experience with chinon AF? I can use all the help I can get(as usual) Thanks

Maybe I should re-phrase the question.
Does anybody know if there even is such a thing as Auto'focus chinon lenses that fit other cameras besides the chinon?

I do not own Chinon lens. But you can find Pentax zoom lenses in similar price range. It is unclear to me the need to have Chinon lenses unless you are a Chinon collector.

My understanding is that the Chinon AF lenses were completely self-contained and were designed to work on any k-mount camera. Ricoh had a similar design. I don't believe they migrated the technology to any zooms, however. Do you have a link to the eBay auction?

Steve, that lens was made as a stand alone to work on MF lenses. Some of the later lenses such as those made for the CP-9AF may work on Pentax but may require manual focusing them and vice versa.

Thanks for the clarification here. I looked up the CP-9AF and the manual claims compatibility with Pentax KAF lenses. In which case, the Chinon lenses may very well work on a Pentax body, though I would personally be hesitant to spend money to see if that were true!

Thanks guys! The auction for the lenses is over, but I am a very curious person. Once I start to find out about or learn about something I generally stick to it. I haven't been able to find any more on the subject, but I did find out about the CP-9AF SLR and it was my understanding that the Auto-focus for these lenses was only available on that particular camera. It is still an interesting subject though.
