That's because the 55/1.4 is actually a 55. You're just cropping it so it sorta looks like an 85 focal length, but the bokeh is totally different.
The bokeh of 85/1.4 is the magic. The 77Ltd comes fairly close for the size though. Spend the money on it

For lenses, I'd like these as well:
DA* 135mm F1.8 = 202.5mm (35mm format)
500mm f4 and a 300mm 2.8
And yes, I do realize they'll be $1000-3000 (or more w/ the 5050 probably) each...

Some cheap sharp primes below $250

This. For example, Pentax should make the Nikon 35 1.8G ($199 new)

What DA* prime would I like Pentax to make ?

Make some affordable DA WR instead. The WR part is important. But please no "*", Ltd, or SDM. They don't have to be ultra-fast either. A DA28/2 WR would probably sell like hotcakes.

Would you use a precious FA Limited in rainy or dusty conditions? That would be reason enough to replace them.

Not only do the DA* lenses have weather sealing, they have the latest coatings.

Keep the FA Ltds....

The problem I have with the DA WR and DA* lenses is the build and size. Same goes with new Canon and Nikon glass. Even the DA*55 is a large plastic blob. I have 3 DA*s and like the image they produce, have them cause it rains here all the time, but I don't like using them.

If Pentax could make a WR lens without it becoming the size of a coke bottle, I'd like to see;
85 1.4
135 2.5

Yes i just browse some nikon prime lens a while ago and saw the 35 f1.8 at $199 only and the canikon has also some cheap fiftys i think below $100. I would love to try a pentax prime but for the price of the DA and FA i'd rather have the zoom for now. I hope Pentax comes up with some cheap good primes to rival the canikons

I think cheap affordable primes are needed and a DFA* super tele such as a 400 f5.6 or f4.

I know it's not a prime and not that I could afford it but I'd like the FA* 250-600 f/5.6 updated to DA* specs. It could be an f/4 too if it came with wheels!

If they could re-release the FA* series as DFA*, I wouldn't complain one bit!

The three existing DA* zooms cover the range where a zoom is most usefull ...we now need some wider and longer primes. Say a 12mm f2.8 and a 400 f4.0 along with a DA* TC. A fast standard lens would be next but I don't see that as a big seller so wide and long first.

as long as they don't sort out that SDM the answer is clear:
if they sort it out, 24 f1.8 or 2 or 2.4 or even 2.8 would be really sweet

Has already been noted, but I repeat it here again:

1. 28/2, based on the M28/2 design.
Pentax had a DA* 30 on an older roadmap.

2. 400/5.6, small, like the old Tokina.
Why not a Limited 400mm?

3. 135/2, a 135mm lens is really missing!
