I have had two opportunities to buy this lens used for a very good price... but in the end I just could not pull the trigger because of the SDM issues. Sadly for me, owning this lens in perfect condition but with no warranty is just a risk I could not take.
Looking at all my photos, it would be the perfect weather sealed family shooter for me...
Come on Hoya, fix it!

About $70 cheaper than the 50-135!
Regarding this thread - I assume these are really good deals that were passed up? Because with the exception of a couple lenses, all of these I've seen in this thread are available to buy now through ebay or various places, if you're willing to pay market value.
But passing up a really great deal? It's been a while for me... I'm sure there are some, but they're not coming to mind right now. Usually I just
miss a deal because someone snatches it up first, but whenever I have the opportunity to grab a good lens at a great price, I take it, because I can always resell for just under market value or right at market value and get my money+ back if I'm not going to be shooting it enough to keep it.
Wait, I remember one - Back in Jan '08 (I think) I didn't buy a Vivitar Series-1 105 2.5 macro for $175. It was mint, but I was cowardly about the whole thing and didn't pull the trigger.
Since then I've manned-up, but the whole LBA thing doesn't work if you're not also willing to sell really good glass that you're not using to fund new purchases. Well, unless you're really budget-free
, then you never have to sell anything, but if you're not, sacrifice is part of the game.
