Vivitar VIV-2x7-C 2x 7-Elements Macro Teleconverter?

Looks like Vivitar released a new version of their macro teleconverter and they have a 7 element and a 4 element availible. Anyone have any information on these and or actual usage?
I tried the older "A" version when I first start playing with d-slr and found them a rather inexpensive way to do macro, it would be interesting to find out how the new version preforms as a 2X teleconverter.

My experience with the older Vivitar variable TC's is that they're surprisingly good at the macro end with 35-100mm lenses but not impressive as a 2x telephoto extender.

Takin' on all comers with a macro-to-tele accessory is quite a challenge but ViVitar has been pretty selective over the years in what it offers as re-branded gear.

Not many OEM suppliers have been willing to put their reputation on the line with that gear but the Adaptall/TX folks have a little elbow room providing versatility for the mid-level market and done comendably well at it IMO.

Thanks for the response. I was kind of thinking the same thing as far as the extenter side went. Combining macro and tele in one system there has to be compromises.
