p.s. PentaJP that is an awesome steal, I guess you were just lucky. I couldn't believe a K20D body was in your list to start with :/
K20D wasn't my target, either. Originally I was planning to keep only
the FA limited lenses. But after testing K20D with the grip, I could never
go back to my K100D Super. K100D Super and double zoom kit lenses
now belong to my wife

$1000 cash is the price he advertized on local craigslist, and I didn't
dare to ask for any discount. That's probably the reason he chose me
not the other guys who contacted him.

The former owner was a very nice guy and had plenty of knowledge
about Pentax cameras. I think he could be one of the PentaxForums'
members. Maybe a "former" member, though.
I see, glad to hear that PentaJP. usually people that sell at that price would either be having some financial difficulties, retiring from photography or new users that just plainly unsatisfied with the gears at hand.

For $0.00: A Spotmatic F with SMC-Takumar 55/1.8. Delivered to my door by someone who knew I used Pentax and found it in the discard shed at the local dump, er ... waste transfer station.

Am I reading this right? Both macros for $150?
You are reading it right. I actually traded the 50mm 2.8 Macro with WallyB here for a FA50 1.4

oh boy...and to think seeing a brand new FA35 on the shelf and having the money to buy it on the same day was a score.

Now that's a sweet deal. Nice one. There are some incredible deals here.

I'd forgotten about one about a year and a half ago. I forget the title on the listing but it was another one of those that says something like "Lots of camera gear" and you fluke into finding it.

Me Super,
Program Plus (mirror locked up)
SMC A 50mm f1.4
Vivitar 135mm f2.8 (A series)
Vivitar 28mm f2.8 (M series)
Vivitar Series 1 Version 3 70-210mm
Hard Pelican case
Meade Schmidt Cass 1000mm f10 scope with a T mount.

Bought the lot for under $200 shipped and sold it all after it all tested OK. I think the starting price was $149.00 and I was the only bidder. It cost 35-40.00 just to get it here. Those deals don't exist on the auction sites these days. Everyone is reading every auction that is listed no matter how bad the title.

Kept the Program Plus (defective) and the 1000mm (fun lens) and pocketed about $200 after expenses.

I've gotten a couple good deals (although I'm afraid I'm not sure what the acronym LBA stands for :-) )

The first was a P-DA 50-200mm open box for $45 when Circuit City was going under, and the second was a FA50 1.4 for $129 when MSN Cashback was offering 35% on Ebay Buy-it-now purchases. These days even the full BIN price looks like a good deal though :-)

Lens Buyers Addiction. We're starting a new forum with a 12 step program. First step is to sell all your Pentax gear and buy Leica. Then you can't afford lenses.

By the way, some of you might have noticed a little addition Adam made to the forums. It helps with questions like what is LBA or SMC. Notice the faint dotted lines under those 2 acronyms? So if you put you mouse pointer on SMC or LBA and leave it there for a second, you'll see the full meaning pop up in a window. Like AF or SDM.

Adam loves to tweak the forums.

I recently won an auction for a ZX-30 and "Vivitar Series 1" lens for $72. When I saw the pictures I was almost sure the lens was the 105mm 2.5 macro. After some checking around I knew it was. The lens has very little wear, and the glass is perfect. I guess the auction just stayed under the radar, and I'm glad.
I was tracking that auction too. I ended up working late and wasnt able to bid.

my best haul was this past weekend. I got a
Vivitar A 19mm 3.8,
cosina A 24mm 2.8 macro,
Pentax M 100mm 2.8
Kalimar 60-300 4-5.6 ( i think)
ME Super,
Sunpak auto flash,

and a bunch of polarizers, cable releases, mini tripods and other things like that. The lenses are clean, and all of the equipment is in good working shape. I paid 60 bucks, and am pretty pleased.

My favorite LBA was at the local B&M camera chain about 2 years ago. Their used listings had a Pentax A 24mm F2.8 for $49.95, nice deal, so I went to check it out. Look into the glass, and there is some haze on one of the interior elements. After I pointed it out to the clerk, they said they couldn't sell it then, to which I asked what they would do with it? Toss it was their reply! To which I said, well then can I Yep! Ended up selling on ebay (full disclosure and photos) for a tidy, future LBA funding profit. Oh and a month ago got a 50mm Pentax-F, f1.7 for $65 too.

Also got an A 50mm f1.4 mint w/box for $70 on craiglist...along with a mint in box ME super, and a bunch of other lenses, filters and misc junk.

sigma 24-60 on ebay, auction ended and no one else bid!

Then there was the k1000 with a 40mm M pancake at the pawn shop, and the asahi pentax camera with the 50mm f4 macro there with an off camera flash bracket there as well.

There are always deals to be found!
