Aubell 135mm f2.8 - any comments?

Hi all - just acquired an Aubell 135mm f2.8. The seller claims it's near mint.

The pictures of the lens look great but I have no idea about this lens. It's only $20 so I figured it might worth a chance.

Anyone has any experience with this lens?

Thanks,

Duc

Paper Weight?

Never heard of Aubell, so I really can't help much. But at 135/2.8 it has to be a significant hunk of glass. M42 or K-mount?
What body do you intend to use it on? And what type of photos? Back in my film days, 135 was kinda too short/too long for most things. But with the digital sensors, 135 will probably replace the 180/3.5 that I used quite a bit on film.
Post some shots when you can...

I was gonna bid on that...

Darn... I had set it up in my ebay, but I missed the reminder. I have no idea what it is, but that has never stopped me from buying one!

It sure looked cool. Please let me know when you get it. I want to hear about it.

Thanks

@aesch: I guess it's a M42 mount and I'm going to use it n my Pentax K10D mostly for portrait.

The vendor has shipped on 12/31/2009 so it should it be ready for test in about a week.

@gus: i didn't miss my reminder Will certainly upload some test shots ASAP.

Care to post a link to the auction? I am curious as to what this beast looks like! Be sure to post to the "Off-brand" thread once you take some photos.

That is pretty interesting looking. Pre-set aperture and one huge 2x TC. The country of manufacture is on the base, but the photos conveniently have it turned away.

Right, I noticed the country part too. Nonetheless, for $20 I figured out I got nothing to lose

That's probably two Big Mac trio that I would have to pass haha

Apologize to bring up an old thread.... but I got this lens recently from a guy selling his k1000, the lenses that come with it has this lens.

It is, surprisingly, in K-mount, and Made in Japan. I put it on the K5 without problem, initial test seem to show pretty good sharpness at f2.8, but my room is too dim and will test it out more in day light. The minimum focusing distance is pretty far, maybe 10 ft away. The aperture blades are pretty bad (not circular shape unless f2.8) design.
