I want a UWA again! Sold mine a while back ...

Yeah ... sold a Sigma 10-20 (the "old model") and now I am finding myself in need of another one.

All things considered, after I have done a bit of research, I am wondering what I should look into.
There are a few contenders, such as the Pentax DA 12-24 f4, the Tamron 10-24 f3.5-4.5, and the Sigma 10-20 f3.5.
I wish I could get my hands on a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 for Pentax!

So, I am asking some input from people who have UWA lenses and report their preferences and suggestions.

I really would like to know whether a full frame/DSLR UWA exists for Pentax.

Notably missing from your list of candidates is simply replacing the old one you got rid of with another copy.

Was there something specific you didn't like about it? That might help guide the advice.

Nothing specifically bad about it, in fact, it was a good lens.
I sold it for "peanuts" right here on this site too! ... now I sort of miss it.
Anyway, if there is a similar lens out there, which can also be used on FF cameras, that would be nice.

The Tamron 10-24 is nice. Great focal range, fast focusing, and somewhat wide aperture range. Excellent sharpness in the image quality, and great colors/contrast. The only place it lacks is on corner/edge sharpness -- it gets OOF/distorted towards the far corners, with some mild CA. It's pretty much resolved by f/8, but I hear the Sigma 10-20 4-5.6 doesn't have this problem. The extra range, macro focusing, and 6-year warranty of the Tamron sold me, though.

JP, maybe you should get the DA12-24 for a change.

Wally, that sure is a nice lens but I am looking for sellers in Canada but can't find any. I am sure this costs a fortune too? :ugh:

Try and find a good deal on a DA12-24. It's the best lens you can get in this range. Getting another Sigma 10-20 is a good option as well.

According to Photoprice (Pentax DA 12-24mm F4 ED - Canadian Price Comparison - photoprice.ca), Henry's currently has it for 944.99$ all inclusive. Not exactly cheap, but better than the 1200 CDN$ it has been going for lately.

That would very interesting. Henry's sometimes sells for much less but then again they really blow their prices out of reasonable proportions. This looks like a better deal, although not cheap.
This Pentax DA 12-24 won't work on a FF camera, will it?

Just checked the price on this very beautiful lens ... expensive, as expected.
The reviews are mixed, although overall goo/very good.

That is one more to consider, but "used" because of its steep price.
