Lens suggestion wanted for K100D Super

I am looking for a general purpose zoom lens for K100D super. Preferably something like 28-70mm f2.8. Landscape and people photography mostly.

My budget is approx $300. I don't want to overspend. Open to buying used. Need something reliable.

Any suggestions welcome.

The Tamron 28-75/2.8 is the standard recommendation for people who specifically don't mind giving up a lot of flexibility at the wide end (you do know about the crop factor, and that 28mm is not wide angle on a DSLR?) in exchange for slightly more more length and speed. The Sigma 17-70 is the standard recommendation for those who don't mind giving up a little speed in order to get the wide end back. The Pentax, Tamron or Sigma 17-50-ish lenses the standard recommendation for folks who need speed and wide angle and don;'t mind giving up a little length. And of course, the basic kit lens - 18-55 in its various versions - is the standard recommendation for people with no special need for the extra speed or extra length of these other options.

Welcome to the forum.
+1 for the Tamron 28-75 - cheap but not cheap in image quality.
Sigma also offers the 24-70 but I couldn't tell you where you could get one of those...

Sigma 18-50mmF2.8 w/K100Super - Steve's Digicams Forums

Likely if it is new it may be above your budget. Some chance that it be available used
