Will prices drop on the 35mm ltd?

Prices have seemed to drop recently on lenses like the 40mm, 21mm, but not the 35mm.

Right now I'm trying to pick between the 40mm and 35mm and while I'd rather have the 35mm macro it is hard to justify the $200 price gap.

What do you guys think, is the 35mm due for a price cut? Maybe I need to continue to hunt for used ones!

In the Canadian market, prices of lenses seem to keep shooting up. The FA35 used to be $299, then $449 and now my local shop says $700 or so.

I'd say your best bet is the used market.

I've noticed the same things around here, prices keep going up on good lenses, not down.

Ah, maybe I'm just remembering prices wrong then. I just thought a short time ago you couldn't get a 40mm for $340.

I think that todays prices are based on a lot of different factors. Popularity, production numbers and what the market will stand etc.

No, that's the price it's been for quite while from reputable dealers.

There are always scam outfits - most notably including some Amazon affiliates - that would list ridiculously inflated prices for lenses in hopes of luring some unsuspecting sucker into buying from them rather than for example, B&H (because B&H isn't an Amazon affiliate, so their prices wouldn't show up on Amazon searches). But *real* prices in the US have been fairly stable since the initial hike a year or so ago.
