It's like my Pentax FA-J 75-300 ... many people say it's a completely crap lens.
I must have been the only lucky one to get a half decent copy.

I know someone with the DL 100-300 ... and he has taken some pretty amazing Bird In Flight shots up at the Central Coast ... and amazing aerial snowboarding shots as well.

Ive heard mixed stories on that FA-J ranging from excellent to crap, must be a major variation in copies.

Look I found the Sigma at a local "Crack Converters" and had ZERO clue as to anything about it, only recently I have found myself using it, however it's really only useable in good light.

This is the thing .. with these consumer zoom ... you NEED good light for them to perform.

This was the last time really shot with this at a horse event with the FA-J 75-300

2008 All Breeds show pictures by Mechan1k - Photobucket

Lighting was good luckily.

I submitted a review for the lens a little while back -- very impressive for what people normally consider it as!

Isn't that pretty much every lens club except the Fa ltd club and DA * clubs????

Just about every lens I own would fit the Cheap nasty mother of a lens club... and they all seem to have their own clubs already...

This forum needs another lens club like I need another Fast Fifty!!!!

The off-brand club is sort of like that except that the cheap, nasty name-brand lenses are sort of excluded!

This sort of thing is a needed counter-point to the equipment snobbery that is so prevalent in photography, hi-fi, and other hardware-centric hobbies. It is good to have evidence that good and even great/wonderful work can be done with ordinary tools.

How about the 'Owners Of Cheap Nasty Lenses Banned From Pentax Forums Club'? Of course you'll have to get someone who isn't banned to post for you and then there'll be the 'Pentax Owners Banned For Collaborating With Owners Of Cheap Nasty Lenses Who Are Banned Club'.

LOL

Now there is a classic response. How about a "Classic Response" thread?
