Rokina 80-200mm f4.5? Anybody heard of it?

Just purchased a Pentax-M 50mm f1.7 and this was basically thrown in as a bonus. I've never heard of the brand before and seem to be coming up short even on google (!).

Rokina. Sounds like Tokina. Or Rokkor. Maybe a Communist-bloc knockoff? That would actually be kinda cool.

Anybody have any experience with it or know anything about it? Is it a good lens? Or should I search for something a bit better?

New K-x user here and loving the availability of old school lenses. Just need some guidance.

Thanks.

Are you sure it's not Rokinon? I got a Rokinon zoom under similar circumstances. The only unusual thing about it was its range was 75-240mm. It was like a lot of cheap zooms otherwise.

No. It's definitely "ROKINA". Almost exactly the same as the pic in the link IVOIRE posted.

Strange. Imagine that. Something the internet doesn't know. I'll continue searching for answers. I'll post anything if I find it.

Cheers.

May or may not have anything to do with Rokinon, but good bet it's probably Korean-made, mid-80s. Often they'd do the one-letter-off-a-major brand thing. I think one of these came through a store where I worked, once, it was awful. Like someone took a Dremel to the inside of it, if I'm remembering the right occasion.

I'd say, don't expect wonders, but you may as well see what it does for you. Seeing as how it's already there, is all. (Btw, I don't think there'll be one, but look out for any Ricoh pins on the mount. That'd be a pin roughly where the AF screw drive would be. Those can get stuck in the camera mounts. But unlikely to be found on what I think that is. )

korean-made? mid-80s? sounds suspiciously like me. maybe this is destiny.

or not. seems to be a decent enough lens for now but, thanks to your guy's input, i'll definitely be upgrading.

regardless, the 50mm f1.7 that i got with it is phenomenal. so there's that.
