We talking Greenbacks here as the currency?

All my favoured fast fifties (say it three times fast!) were under $50AU, including that f1.2 K I keep harping on about (and it is an exceedingly beautiful lens.)

.

Best K-mount deals for < $50? Here are some possibilities:

DA 18-55 kit
K 55 f/2 or 1.8
M 50 1.7
M 135 3.5
M 28 2.8
Sears 135 2.8

On a couple of those you may need to get lucky to find them under $50, but each of those lenses should be purchased immediately if you find them for $50 or below net cost!

Yep, the XR Rikenon 50/2 is pretty cheap, though some are pretty rough. Very sharp, great contrast, mediocre bokeh.

I was quite lucky and was able to pick up my K-135mm f/2.5 for £29 - bit of a bargain given how lovely the lens is.

Waitaminute... I think I have that one mounted on my Ricoh KR-5 35mm. Never tried it on my K20, for some reason I didn't see the point since I'm quite happy with my M 50mm f1.7

N00b question: what is the difference between the Pentax K and M series?

My camera club had a swap meet on Tuesday and I picked up a functioning ME with a M 50mm f1.7 in extremely good shape for 5 bucks!

My favorite lens below $50 is M100/4 Macro which I got for about $40.
The lens is in mint condition and complete with original box.

SMC PENTAX 1:1.2 50MM.

The genuine article.

The genuine article which, I swear, had been dropped from a height of no less than 30 feet when I got it.

This one:

Proof:

Yeah, I got lucky. The lens is full of fungus (I bought it in a pawnshop in sunny, moist Brisbane that just kept the lenses in a cabint,) along with a Rikenon 50mm f1.7. Whole shebang set me back $30, if I recall correctly. I figure I spent $5 on the Rikenon, so that makes the K $25.

Here's a recent shot, Delta 100 in Diafine, through this lens in my MX, wide open.

It's an excellent lens. Incidentally, it's formula is identical to the 1.4's, so if you can sacrifice some light, save your cash.

Two nice gems:

Pentax SMC-M 150 f3.5 35$ shipped (that's CND). Perfect except for one cosmetic sctratch, amazing little lens, not used much but it's there when needed.

Super program + AF280T flash + SMC-A 50 mm f1.4 for 10$... (at a flea market). I still use the flash, sold the lens for 130$ USD and the camera for 35$ USD as is...

I almost felt dirty buying that last kit, but it was the asked price, I couldn't very well argue that it should be MORE expensive...

Most of my purchases in the past year or so were under $50.
200/F4 Super Takumar, $45
M135/F3.5, $40
I also picked up an Opteka 500/F8 mirror for $49 but the shipping put it over the limit.
Recently, a set of M42 extension tubes for $19.

well I guess in my defense the DCL includes lenses which need adapters like M42 etc... this is strictly k mount... I guess if admin see's that its too similar he can merge them.

also, i know how grumpy everyone gets when another "club" thread pops up, so i left this out of the title
