How do you use a manual lens on a K20D?

I bought an SMC M 50mm f1.4 lens on ebay, and it arrived today. However, I put it on my K20D, and cant get it to do anything. I've tried all of the exposure modes including manual, but the shutter wont fire, and "F--" just keeps blinking in the viewfinder.

Is there a trick to this, or is there something else wrong?

And for the shutter not firing, move your autofocus selector switch to manual and then try it. (The switch next to the lens mount, not the one on the back of the camera).
