Of the prime lenses I've owned, it's slower than my FA-50 f/1.4 but it was only relatively slower. Personally even if I can sense the difference at that level, functionally I can't see the difference in my ability to get the shot I want. All I can say is that I've never missed a shot with the DA-35 because of the AF speed, and it's small, bright, wonderfully sharp and has macro to boot. Hope that helps,

Yeah it sure seems like a great lens. I'm just really thinking in terms of AF speed for street photography, where I have missed shots with AF issues. That's why I'm drawn to the 21mm of 40mm limited, although they might not match the 35mm in some areas, the focus speed is meant to be super.
