1000mm of goodness!

As in, "my goodness, that's a huge lens!"

I just received my new toy from KEH, the SMC 1000mm f/8, complete with a well-used case. I feel just like Ron Stoner, or John Severson or one of those old surfing photographers with their 1000mm Century lens.

Anyhoo....I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to at least try this lens. I figure I can always sell it if I don't use it. However, just think of the fun this will be at the beach, or at the wild life area. I had to buy a gimbal head to hold the thing!

Here's the lens on my K20D.

Except Stoner & Severson would've needed a 1600mm lens to see the angle of view you see!

It looks scary.

It could also double as a blunt weapon if its not too heavy.

it looks like an M4 although a bit different and with a small armament.
