Lens Question

Hey guys,

I recently got the 50-135 da*. The lens has a switch for AF/MF right on it. I sometimes accidently forget to flip it when i manually focus. So far the auto-focus is fine, but I am afraid that would eventually hurt the motor inside. Could that possibly happen or did they consider this possibility when they were building the lens. Any light on the issue would be greatly appreciated!

No worries whatsoever, the lens is meant to be focused manually whenever you want whether the switch is set to MF or not. That's the whole point of "quick shift" manual focus. The idea is that if you don't like where the auto-focus set the lens, you can make fine adjustments yourself before pressing the shutter button all the way.

The only time I wouldn't try to focus manually is while the lens is auto focusing.
