how good is FA 28-70mm/4 vs. DA 18-55mm II?

Hello, how good is FA 28-70mm/4 vs. DA 18-55mm II? Except loosing 18-28mm...

aside from the focal length and constant aperture, it isn't really that better than the DA kit lens. but distortion can really be a problem for the kitlens at the wider end. the FA is a good performer honestly speaking, but there is something that is missing from it.

I heard that between 28-55mm is better than kit lens...

One thing from my reading was the FA is prone to element separation. Maybe just occasional cases, but be sure to check out the copy carefully.

I haven't used my FA enough to speak on the IQ of it, however I was intrigued by it as a complement to my 10-20, and for 50 bucks it was worth the shot!
