Yes, it's a good deal. I wish it was mine, I've been looking for this lens for a while now.

Yep, that's the only M-series f/1.4 lens.

That is a great price for a great lens. I sold mine last year for a little more than double that and prices have gone up a lot since. The only reason I sold it was because I owned about 7, 50mm lenses--could not possibly use them all. The only challenge with that lens is, of course, focusing it below f2. That was what first led me to the split-focus screens. What do you have for a focus screen?

I had this lens and sold it because it just didn't live-up to any advantages over my 1.7
Seems like the only logical step(in my case) was a 1.2

PS. apparently it isn't as sharp as the 1.7 stopped down though I didn't find it to bad wide open either.

I have the A and FA 50 1.7's now, but I did like the M 50 1.4 I had, and still have a S-M-C Tak 50 1.4.

The 50 1.4's are designed more for portraiture and bokeh-rich applications in mind - stopped down to f/2.8 and lower they are just as sharp as anything, but between f/1.4 --> f/2.8 the designers attempted to bring some 3-d 'pop' to the image - sharpness in that aperture range is just a by-product.

Here are some M 50 1.4 snaps:

It's not a *bad* lens - just not as good as the 1.4 or 1.7, and only slightly cheaper (than the 1.7).

Hi - if you can get any of them below $50 in good dirt/fungus free condition i think it is an alright deal. Cleaning alone cost about $50 if you have it done.

I think they're all great portrait lenses. If you shoot stuff/people that moves around a lot you might want to consider getting an auto focus 50 1.4
