Three "usual suspects" and two intermittent surprises

"Usual suspects"
FA 43mm Ltd
FA 77mm Ltd
FA 20mm F2.8

Intermittent Surprises
Tamron 90mm F2.8 macro.
Pentax K 135 F2.5

I'm pretty sure that most ppl would agree with the first 3. The other two I have gotten some "magical" shots from. With the first three the 'magic' happens much of the time. Unfortunately with the other two it only happens some of the time or I would have grouped them together. That said, I can say that I've gotten enough magical shots with the 'intermittent' group to say that it is more than a fluke. I just wish I knew what triggered the 'magic' in the second group.

FA 43
FA 77
Super Takumar 85 f1.9
K 55 f1.8

The above are all lenses I have or have used. I prefer the 85 f1.9 over the f1.8 purely because the f1.9 has more Pixies to my mind and sight compared to the f1.8. I suppose its the older equivalent of the 35mm fight going on currently between the f2 and f2.8

Although I haven't had a chance to use it much, my latest acquisition, the S-M-C Takumar 28mm f/3.5, fits this description to a T. I very much like the rendering of the DA 35 Limited also.

. I think I have to say my Voigtlander 125/2.5 Macro APO Lanthar is filled with the magic smoke and sprinkled with the pixie dust.
. I haven't been using it nearly enough lately. ... actually, haven't used it at all in I can't remember how long.
.
Agree, sometimes I think that CV 125 and FA31 are enough for me, than I am reminded of the FA77...

The A* 200mm Macro is as pixie dust as it gets for me, followed closely by the FA* 85mm. I have the 31 Ltd. too, but it doesn't show the pixie dust as consistently as the other 2 for me, but it still shows up.

Mine is SMC 135 2.5 -- Even when I screw up it tries to make it beautiful. Something about the pictures look like classic film to me...I guess the bokeh and color...and the pixie dust.

IMHO there is only one lens with magic for me:

D FA 100/2.8 macro

It turns lowly weeds into sublime works of art.

For me: the 31, 43 & 77 Ltds (of course) and the FA 135 f/2.8 and the Sigma 24mm f/2.8 Super-Wide II.

digitaldevo, no fair. The Sigma 120-300 zoom you cite @ the bottom of your list is not available in Pentax mount, as much as I wish it was. :ugh:

Question for the DA 15/4 lovers... why that over the 14/2.8? ...or am I asking a silly question as pixie dust is unexplainable.

Sigh. As I told you before, it's forged in the ether and delivered via whirlwind.
