Thanks for the comparison. I'd love to see a comparison to the 18-55 II lens since it's said be an improvement over the original 18-55. I've been toying with the idea of picking up this Tamron lens, but can't find any comparisons between it and my 18-55 II. Anyone who has both these lens willing to put up a few shots??

Astroguy12s, this was a comparison of the Da L 18-55mm kit, as declared so by Taurus.

Taurus: The two lenses being compared are a Pentax mount Tamron 17-50 and an SMC DA L 18-55 Kit lens that came with my Kx.
The "L" version of the Kit shares the same optical formula as the Da II, and the Da WR. What the L version is missing is the quick shift. This was not a comparison of the original 18-55mm kit, which had an older formula.

See, for example, https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/89036-differen...us-18-55s.html

Was wondering about that -- when looking up the EXIF of the kit lens images, I saw:

Lens Model: smc PENTAX-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II
