My All Time Favorite Pentax Lens

Well, if I were to choose the one lens from the complete arsenal of all the lenses I have used or owned from the recent Pentax Series I would have to give it the following lens.
Now before I do so, it is not the only lens I would need to survive at my craft, but pretty close.

Here goes...Ta, Da, De Ta Ta Ta ta...

The "PENTAX DA 12-24 f4.0 Lens"

PS...To survive I could literally live with two lenses only. The above DA 12-24 and the DA* 16-50 f2.8 lens.

That would be just fine...

Currently, the FA77/1.8 Ltd.--my best people lens, ever. Also could not do with just that lens, but add the FA 35/2 and DA15 and I could get pretty close.

My most used lens would be the DA17-70. It does the job, but does not spark the emotion. This year, more emotion.

I would have to say FA 77mm as well. The combination of length and IQ are just unbeatable.

My first response would tend to be - the one I have on my camera at the time but...if I had to pick one. It would be the DA*16-50. It's produced more good results over the past year than any other and it is my first choice for most things.

I'd give second place to the DA 10-17 fisheye though.

I am assuming my choice has to come from a lens I own and have used a lot. I have a number of Pentax lenses but if I had to pick a favourite from amongst them it would have to be the K 200/2.5. It feels great, looks great and best of all works great.

The DA 12-24/4 is one of my favourites as well. It is a solid ultra wide lens, with much less distortion than most lenses in the range, a really great focal range, sharp as a tack and and and ...

DA* 16-50. I took 50% of my shots with this and it's tack sharp at 35-50 for portraits and offers a nice wide end for everything else.

The FA 43mm limited. This is good for most of my shooting. It's only real flaw is that it's not weather-sealed, which is where my 16-50 comes in (as well as for the wide stuff).

My 16-45 and 55-300.

Also from my film days my Pentax 35-105 A Macro Zoom. Had since '84, still have it.

I also really like my:
  • Pentax 10-17 mm Fisheye
  • Pentax 50 mm F2.8 Macro- very sharp
  • Pentax 50 mm F 1.4 normal

I have quite a few lenses....and I can't say there is just one that stands out, but if I could only keep one, it would be the K85/1.8 (or it's SMCT equiv)

geez, this is a lil bit tricky since I love all my lenses, except the M50/2 and 18-55WR.

but anyway, this has got to be something to do with use or purpose.

I would say for wide , I only got the DA12-24, K28/3.5 for walk-around, A50/1.2 for portraiture, FA100/2.8 short telephoto, and 55-300 for versatility and longer telephoto.

if I were to only have 3 lenses, I would have the 12-24, FA35/2 and the 55-300.

and if I would only have to choose one, I think it would be a toss-up between the A50/1.2 (weakness is manual focus), FA50/1.7 (disturbing bokeh), FA100/2.8 (slower and a bit long on a few occasions). I wished Pentax made an autofocus 50/1.2 to make my selection much more easier.
