hmmm...you guys just gave me an idea. if 2 lenses is what I need, I would probably sell my 12-24 and get either a 16-45/4 or Tammy 17-50/2.8. cons between the two is one is 1-stop slower and the other one has weird distortion at the wide end due to it's optical construction.
probably I'll get the Tammy for the extra speed, eventhough I like the sharpness and distortion consistency of the 16-45/4.

if I'll be left with only one lens, I guess I'll get the Tamron 17-50/2.8 and reserve a A50/1.2 specialty lens. there is just no way that I could achieve something without the 1.2. we do need magic once in a while.

My favorite would be the FA35mm F2.0AL. I find this lens very versatile as a walkabout lens and the F2.0 really helps alot in alot of situations. Not to mention it is still very sharp even wide open! This is a lens which I will never sell off.

My lens collection is not as great nor big as some of you guys has and thus my input may be limited, but on my last trip to southern Chile I did use a lot DA 12-24 and I think is a wonderful lens. I'd just like it to be a little longer (~28 to 30).

Oh, and my absolute favorite is DA35 Ltd.

For a walk-around lens I'd like to get DA16-45, DA*16-50 or DA17-70.
Which of those, you think would be the best?

I suspect that part of the reason you like it is because most people say, "that's not a useable focal length for portraits".

My favorite lens is the FA35/2.0.
It handles low light situations well and produces
scharp and contrasty pictures.
If I could only have one single lens I would keep the DA16-45.
It is a versatile non-SDM.

I cannot count how many times I have used this lens and am awe struck by how sharp it is, the amazing contrast and the lack of distortion.

A great lens.

Weirdly, the lens I use the most is one of my worst lenses. It's a cheap second hand Cosina 28mm 2.8 The construction is unbearable, it's got distortion, not too sharp, but it's the focal length I use the most.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 31mm f/1.8 sometime, but I also want to get a rangefinder setup and may get the Voigtlander 28mm f/2 instead.

Obviously each situation has an optimum lens, but my favourite in terms of versatility id my DA* 50-135.

This picture was taken in a dark room with the onboard flash holding the K20 at arm's length and fully pressing the button until it took the picture.

I love my 50-135, but it's SDM, anyone care to guess where it is right now?

Not yet, pentax repair center has it. I have had it almost a year and thought mine was ok but it recently started "going to sleep" on me, then I met another pentax shooter and we started talking glass, he let me use his 50-135 (while he was there with me) and his copy was brilliant, I couldnt take a bad shot with his lens, sharp fast focus just like a $1000 lens should while mine hunted some and started taking naps, mine got shipped out the next morning. I also drooled over the 16-50 but these forums helped me make a better choice, I got the tammy 17-50 instead, so a big THANK YOU to all of you fellow pentaxians for saving me around $600 on a POS.

DA 40 for me. Although I use the FA 20-35 a lot too, the little pancake is my favorite. Recently got a DA 35, but given winter weather it has not yet had a chance to strut its stuff.
