What is your dream lense?

I am curious, the Pentax lineup holds a lot of desirable lenses, but lacks something truly extreme.

What would be your dream lens ? A lens (provided it achieves excellence), that you would ake a loan to buy ? Or dream of winning at the lottery to buy it ?

Regards,
Guillaume

Probably a smallish DA* 26-30mm 2.0 prime that wouldn't cost a fortune.

On second thought, make that a DA WR lens instead. SDM seems to very unreliable.

An ultrawide or wide landscape lens with weather sealing and excellent IQ below f/8. Oh, and no SDM please.

Replace "no SDM" with "SDM II with bonus anti-fall-apart" for the anti-Luddite in me.

(I didn't vote because there was no "all of the above.")

EDIT: I hope you guys realize that a 24 f/1.4 and a 600/4 would go for ~$2000 and ~$10000 each.

DA 9mm f/4, ASAP (as small as possible). No SDM needed, thanks.

And it blows the MTF off the charts.

I was more speaking about lenses that can realistically be made, but with a pricetage superior to 2000€/$.

The 50/1.2 had been produced by Pentax, and Canon had even faster. Super-tele are usually very expensive. Nikon has a 14-24/2.8 FF that is an exeptionnal lens (and FF) Canon have recently released 2 very good and wide tilt-shift (17mm and 24).

So of which lens would you dream about ?

Not-that-heavy and not-that-big WR ultra-wide for reasonable money (no, 900 gbp for 12-24 isn't reasonable). It can be a prime, say anywhere between 12mm to 16mm, if it makes it lighter/smaller. Can be a zoom as well.

No SDM, or if you include it then 10 year worldwide warranty please.

I'd love a 2.8 or lower 10-20mm.

DA* 135/2.5 (same optical design as the K135/2.5)

and a remake of the DA* 200mm with the K200/2.5 optical design.

Are you sure the design with fewer elements and without ED elements is superior? (I'm talking about DA* 200 f/2.8 a.k.a. FA* 200 f/2.8)

No, not sure. I just like what I've seen from the K200/2.5.
