Which lenses are known to SDM fail?

Very simple question.
out of SDM capable lenses which are known to have failed???
I've read horror stories, regarding the first SDM lenses (16-50 &50-135 DA*). I have caught thread or two that would indicate troubles with 17-70. There isn't much written about 60-250 anyway, BUT what strikes me is, I don't remember reading about any prime lens failing! Now I realize 200 and 55 are probably not the best selling things but 300 has built quite a reputation.
Correct me if I'm wrong but has anybody caught any info about 55 - 200 - 300 failing in SDM?

edit:
further down you'll find chart in this format

Lens Copies/Failures
16-50 6/2
50-135 6/3
60-250 2/1
17-70 1/0
55 1/0
200 0/0
300 3/1

please add your numbers to the last one.

TIA for any kind of replies.

BR
Peter

I have not heard one word of trouble regarding 60-250. I have 16-50 and 50-135, and they both act goofy at times. I manual focus a lot, and I love the IQ of these lenses so much that I chose to look the other way. Especially 50-135 can go up against any prime lenses in terms of IQ, as you know. Can well be greatest zoom ever built by Pentax. If autofocus is terribly important to you, I wouldn't buy them. We just don't know the true story.

The SDM on my 60-250 failed.
So far, my 55/1.4 is good.

wow,
so, so far it's 4:4 with zooms and 0:3 with primes AFAIK
Wheatfield,
I know you are fond of portrait lenses. What do you think of the DA* how does it compare IQ wise to 70/77/85? And have you had a chance to compare it to the old lady (K55/1.8 that is)

SDM Problems

The SDM on my DA*300/4 failed sometimes.
So far, the SDM on my DA 17-70/4 is good.

Peter, to make this thread more meaningful perhaps you should post a list of lenses that have SDM.
A running total of how many failures can be kept for each lens if the member who has had a failure "quotes" the most recent post with the totals in and updates it.

Reason behind this question. I have 55/1.8 K series, and love it, but something with AF and 1.4 would be great. Since the DA*55 is apparently FF capable, it would keep me futureproof in this part of my lineup, but the WR on that one would be handy. So I'm really thinking to get me one of them.

TIA for any kind of replies.

On Gary's suggestion

Here is the list with numbers of known failures (acting goofy counts as failure):

DA*16-50 - 1x
DA*50-135 - 1x
DA*60-250 - 1x
DA17-70 - 0x
DA*55 - 0
DA*200 - 0x
DA*300 - 1x

If you have any of the lenses above just quote/ copy-paste the stats and add your numbers.

Thanks
Peter

DA*16-50 - 3x
DA*50-135 - 3x
DA*60-250 - 1x
DA17-70 - 0x
DA*55 - 0
DA*200 - 0x
DA*300 - 1x

Just confirming we are to add our failures to your list above so that we have a running total and no one needs to add them up? So in other words, the next person copies the list from me, and adds their failures to it? If so, you may wish to modify your first post so that people coming in to this thread for the first time will know what to do.

correct, and thank you
though I was thinking it would be interesting to have copies/failures
So original chart would look like:

16-50 1/1
50-135 1/1
60-250 1/1
17-70 1/0
55 1/0
200 0/0
300 1/1

Pentaxpoke can you redo your post, in this way?
so add number of copies for each lens you've had and number of failures.

Thanks

Lens Copies/Failures
16-50 4/2
50-135 4/3
60-250 1/1
17-70 1/0
55 1/0
200 0/0
300 1/1

Peter, you will want to go back and change your first post at the top of the thread so people will know what you are attempting to do here.
