TNX,

Hum. Well. I guess the big question is then.

Where does it suck from?

.-.-.
Mine (16-50) does from the left side between the lens and the camera body. Then it blows it out when zoomed towards the wide end noticeably against my left hand

Well what can I say.

After seeing this picture of the Pentax in the snow I just had to order one.

Should arrive next week from Adorama.

Now all I have to do is work out how to make it snow in sunny Queensland.

No problems here. Had 18-55WR out in rain and snow with no problems at all.

Hi, Just wondering just how weather resistant the new WR lens's are?

Looking to get a Pentax DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR to try out.

Would it be safe to use it in the rain for example?

.-.-.
rain and dust shouldn't be a problem
but don't go for a swim with it, it is not waterproof

We shot our K-7 in a freezing downpour with the DA* 50-135mm lens attached for about 20 minutes without issue.

Then our camera crashed, mid picture.

Turning it off, removing the battery (under cover) and turning it back on resolved it. My guess is bad luck as it was working fine afterwards, but it did make our hearts skip a beat.

This experience is a worrysome experience since both the K-7 and D* lenses are rated WR. However let us remember that WR does not mean waterpoof nor iceproof.

I have read and experienced myself a some similar situations in very cold and wet weather, when the battery became low more rapidly (than usual), and the camera froze/crashed. Did you have a low battery (or half-charged battery) ?

I have had a number of camera and electronics that froze/stopped completely after being soaked wet. In 90% of cases, I was able to restored the camera and electronics to its original conditons as follow: I switched off everything immediately, brought the item in the dry, clean it thorouhgly, took off the battery and placed the camera (or electronics) in the sun (eg the next day) with all doors open for a couple of hours (in winter, 1 h in summer). It works also in a dry, warm place. I am glad for you that you were able to restored your camera and gears in a similar fashion.
