Close up lens for a K1000?

I currently only have a 50mm lens for my pentax k1000, and I continually become frustrated when taking pictures because I can't focus as close as I would like to. I would prefer to be able to focus at least a foot in front of me and maybe even closer. I am unsure if macro is the way to go or if there are any other options out there? Thanks a lot!

The cheapest way is to start with extension tubes or a close-up attachment for your current 50mm lens. If you end up really liking macro photography then you can get a dedicated macro lens. I'm assuming you are talking about the K1000 film camera?

I found the same thing... but I have not tried the tubes yet.

You could try to get one of those elusive Vivitar 28mm Close Focus lenses (good luck...). Or, you could try any generic 28mm - I think they all will generally focus closer than a 50mm.

I ended up getting a Sigma "Mini-Wide" II 28mm that advertized a "macro" feature - which was really just the abillity to focus close. I have not used it much yet, but it does seem pretty good... Actually I found out by comparison to the auto focus 18-55mm kit lens (K-x) that the kit can get even closer by using the zoom... so I don't know if the Sigma is any sharper or more capable - I still have to play with them more.
