My new lens...Sigma 30mm F1.4

Just received my Sigma 30mm F1.4 prime this afternoon from UPS. I've taken a few test shots. So far I'm liking it. Test photos look sharp and the bokeh nice and smooth. This purchase was in anticipation of an Italy trip. I'm hoping this will be a good walk around lens. Without further ado...

The lens:

I'm not shopping for a lens, just curious: How is the curvature of field of this lens? From what I've read, this lens seems to perform poorly in the borders/corners, but perhaps, it's due to field curvature.

You've got nice even lighting in your house (That or you're a master at making flash setups that look like strong indoor lighting)

Congratulations on the new lens! I think a number of us would be very interested in seeing more images done with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. I'm in the market and would really like to see what the lens can do in various situations and light levels. I suspect most of us would like to see what the dreaded "soft edges" are all about.

I use the Sigma 30mm F1.4 as my go-to lens. It is my workhorse, next to my DA*55 F1.4, and a very good one at that.

I'm hoping they'll make an HSM version for Pentax soon.

Congrats on the lens

They are at 1.4, right?

you've got something better than a brick wall to test you lenses there...

The dog is awesome. So light and pleasant.

But i'm still very sceptical about the lens. Maybe they sent some sort of faulty batch to east Europe, but many users with various bodies are avoiding them like plague. And there is no place that will do a reasonable servicing.
Can your k100d drive it flawlessly? My k100d and k200d sounded overwhelmed.

Still in the wait for MkI or something similar priced from Pentax.

Honestly those were the only 2 test shots I took. After my trip I should have a better idea of how the lens performs at the edges. But like you said, alot of reviews say it is softer at the edges. I think it's an alright trade off for the price and F1.4.

I wish I was a master! I played with Photoshop a tad to get the lighting to look good.

Wall shot is F3.2 and the dog shot is F4.0.
