Dilemma

I'm about to sell my old K10 with the kit lens (have K20), but I'm having a hard time choosing between replacing the kit lens with a DA 17-70 (or other zoom?), or just getting a DA 15mm Ltd. I unfortunately can get only one lens right now... What to do, what to do?

Well, if your signature line is correct, I'd think that the DA 17-70 might be the way to go as you have a spectrum of primes and that zoom range would cover a lot of range. It's f4 and I use if for a lot of daytime shots in varried conditions.

I could see where the DA 15 would give you more on the UWA end but how much do you shoot there? (You really need to answer this question you've posed by looking at what you typically shoot and what ranges.)

Before someone recommends Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, check out the following (I stumbled upon the following thread, just today):

as you seem to be price sensitive why not consider the DA 16-45?
It offers great value for the money and you have more possibilities at the wide end.

Shiner, you have many great choices and will, accordingly, get many suggestions. I would not want to be in your shoes. All I will do is mention my walk-around lens of 2 years now--Tamron 17-50mm. It is everything I want or need in this focal range and more. Best of luck on your choice:

This Tamron 17-50 seems a bit hard to find (discounted, at least). Any sources out there?
EDIT: found one at Tri-State for $389 - will consider this lens...

Given your sig, I would get the 15mm Limited. That is, unless there is something about having the kit lens (zoom flexibility) that you really think you're going to miss.

Good point... Oh crap, now I want a 15 Ltd and the Tammy. I was blissfully unaware of how nice the Tamron 17-50 is for the money.

Well, I have decided to attempt to buy both the Tamron 17-50 and the 15 Ltd. I've started with the zoom (from Tri-State), and ordered a 67mm Kenko Pro1 CPL filter (hope it is OK...).

I love your thinking.

When in doubt, buy them all.

Finally got the 17-50, and it is as advertised! I got a "Made in Japan" version, and I'm happy- very nice lens!

Can you post some examples of the onion ring bokeh, for the curious?
