Which line up would you recommend?

Hi everybody,

honestly, I'm getting tired myself with these threads asking you all about opinions on this lens or that lens. I would love to just take some savings out. Buy stuff I want and have peace of mind (I know this last part will be hard with LBA )
I don't think I need to introduce myself, or my shooting style to those who have been on this forums for a while. Truth is at the moment I have 5 lenses (+my wife's Tamron) and I bought and sold 13 over last 2.5 years (Including greats like FA*300/4.5, DA40ltd, DA*50-135, K400/5.6, FA135, Tammy 70-200/2.8, Sigmas 100-300/4, 105/2.8 macro and 24/2.8 AF). And I'm really getting tired of this. I'd love to be buying bargains for resell but I want to complete my line up, once and for all... (if that's possible)
So I'm asking you (once again, and sorry) for bit of advise.
Here are conditions:
a) definitely keeping 31+43
b) must fit into LP Slingshot 100AW

and the options are in poll above.

to elaborate a bit:
135 is bit too long, though I wouldn't mind it on the zoom, just in case
55 is possibly as long as I need but I'm tempted by 77 (though not sure if it won't be too long).
At some very, VERY distant point in future I may be getting 100/2.8 WR as tele not macro option, and I haven't completely shut the door at FA*24 (or if there would be new DA*24)

I know at the end of the day the decision is mine, but for those of you who have seen my work, what would you suggest?
Thanks

BR
Peter

I would go DA15mm, (or 12-24mm), FA31mm, FA43mm, FA77mm but to be honest I'm probably not the best person to ask as my lens collection is all over the place at the moment.

Does this have anything to do with your wife? We had a wife related lens thread recently.

I voted #3, but came very close to picking #2.

The 77 is my favourite lens, but I do find it too long in some cases. I find the DA*55 has more contrast and is sharper at wider apertures, but the extra length of the 77 helps make the subject pop, and I find its rendering smoother overall.

Whatever you do, don't get rid of the Sigma 10-20mm. The shots that you have been presenting from this lens are an inspiration to those of us who havent figuire out how to really use our ultra wide zooms and it would be an awful shame to not see any more examples.

Peter,

keep the 10-20, 31, 43 and get the 77. the 77 would fit extremely well in your lens setup. if not, I'm always here to purchase it for the same bargain value. but I doubt that you will sell it.

Thanks Matt,

it does look like the 10-20 will be a keeper. My only gripe with it is that it's only f5.6 at 20mm. If it was 4 than I wouldn't think about selling it....

heh...,
I bet you'd like that Aris. I hope that the 135 will get to you quickly and safely. I'm waiting for the news tomorrow!
As far as 77 goes, I'd love to have it, but at 750 at the moment it's just too expensive! Stupid me, there was a deal at ffordes for used silver one for 449 and I didn't buy it! Stupid, stupid, stupid....
That's why I'm looking at DA*55. I could get one for 399 brand new with warranty and all, and judging by the K55 I like the focal length, I just don't know if sometimes it won't be too short
And I see that DA*50-135 is getting many votes, this crossed my mind too but I'm bit put off by the reading about all the SDM troubles with it.
Oh well...
Thanks to all anyway

A no-brainer here: get the 77mm and you are set!!!

Hey axl,
I picked the 10-20, 31, 43, DA*50-135. I was a bit torn between this choice and the same with the FA77. I'm not sure which you would prefer. I suggested the 50-135 because it gives you a bit more range in the moderate tele area and is still fairly fast at f2.8. If you don't feel that you need that range then I'd say go for the 77ltd.
I have seen a little bit of your shooting style, and I'd suggest that the first 3 lenses are good choices - saying that I haven't actually used them myself!

thanks Peter. I'm going to call my folks a bit later. and don't forget to leave a feedback.

btw, if only size isn't an issue for you, maybe you could get the Tammy 70-200/2.8?

I have had 50-135 before, and despite being good lens, it didn't charm me enough. And I do like my primes. So personally I'm leaning towards 77. Considering, it's much smaller, faster, and more reliable... and even cheaper, but still out of the reach
ANYBODY HAS SILVER ONE TO SELL?

Don't worry, I'll leave feedback as soon as I'll get confirmation the lens was received.

And Tammy 70-200? I've had it. It's stunning lens IMO, though bit on the bigger side and definitely wouldn't fit to my LP 100AW slingshot. And my copy developed sticky aperture linkage after month or so...
Truth is I haven't seen anything regarding this problem for a while. Did Tamron man put their act together and sort the problem out?

Looks like you should get the 77ltd then I like primes too, so I'd change my suggestion to that if I could.
