The K200/2.5 because it's best quality wise of the four choices. If the 50/1.2 was the K series version, I would have picked it.

Thanks for your responses.

I'm not looking to buy another lens in the immediate future, per se. You don't have to take into consideration my current kit and lack of skill level, tho I appreciate the suggested.

Just wanted to see how you guys would like these in preference.

I voted based on the lens I perceived to be the most valuable to my shooting style, and the Fa 35 was an easy pick.

I chose the DA 10-17, because I don't have anything in that range :P

I would be sorely tempted by the 50mm, and that would be my choice for use on a full frame camera, but I voted for the 35mm. Can't beat a fast normal lens and AF is useful to me as well.

I'd consider replacing my Tammy 180mm f2.5 with the A* 200mm f2.8 but not the K 200mm f2.5 because the A* has the ED elements.

Pentax Telephoto Prime Lenses

As far as the A lenses go, there is nothing wrong with the build quality of the A f1.2 and some of the other top of the line A series lenses.

I only use AF lenses, so that rules out two of them. I also don't like fisheye lenses, so that rules out another. The FA 35 is also sharp which is the type of lenses I will only go far. It's also got a useful focal length to go along with it.

Just a personal preference, I have a K series fetish!

I like the look, feel, size, weight (more metal) and larger filter thread of the K series lenses. I also only have K series film bodies, so the “A” contacts are of no use to me and not worth the extra money.

Since they have the same optics I would take the K50/1.2 over the A50/1.2, just for the fact it weighs 40 grams more and to me looks better.

Wide always appealed to me more so with the APS-C kinda hard getting it, so the DA 10-17mm would be for me.

I know to some this is like comparing apples to oranges.... but could you please tell me briefly why you made the votes that you did?
I have the Pentax K100d camera.

My lenses are:
SMC Pentax DA 12-24mm
Tamron 28-80mm
Quantaray 70-300mm

So I am pretty well covered from 12 to 300mm and am quite happy with those lenses. I use the Quantaray more often than the others. I really don't need anything else. I also have a Raynox DCR 250 which I use frequently.

I chose the Fish Eye knowing that it would not get much use.

I do have the Pentax 18-55mm kit lens and other lenses that will fit my camera, some with the appropriate adapters (I collect old cameras.), but I only use them on rare occasions.

I do have an excellent range of Canon FD lenses but I am afraid there isn't any way that they can be adapted to PKA.

Mickey

What Mickey didn't mention is he is more prone to CBA than LBA on those vintage cameras.

I chose the K200, which I have.....the f2.5 version is a gem. I also have the DA10-17 but rarely use it. I prefer the Ks over the As and FAs, so that ruled them out.

Thanks for the great responses.

I picked DA 10-17 fisheye myself in the above survey, for practical reasons, but I would love to have the K200/2.5. Interesting to see the votes are getting pretty even, except for the fisheye.

If you have no equivalent for any of the lenses listed, FA 35.

K200 can be substituted with Tak200
DA10-17 can be substituted with Peleng (who needs AF for fishies anyway)
A50/1.2 can be subsituted with A50/1.4/1.7

FA 35... a standard lens with autofocus, can only be substituted by DA 40 and DA35, and they dont go to f/2. And everyone should have a standard-ish prime in their bag, AF or not!

Of course there's also the sigma stuff, if you want to go that route
