Info Plz on a Komine Made Vivitar Lens

A long while back I bought on impulse a Komine made Vivitar 35-70mm, 1:2.8-3.8 "macro focusing" lens. However I have never been able to turn up any info on the lens thru the usual internet searches. Can anyone provide a clue? Here are a couple of pix, thanks in advance for all replies.

Thanks Ivoire, that's something more than I had. But it seems like the first comment in the link doesn't really know the lens. I took this quick snap yesterday with this lens on my *1stDS, the first is the original, the second, a 200% crop. Seems like a pretty sharp lens to my eyes, even if the range isn't that great. F5.6, 1/100 iso=200

There is a small mention of it here:

Cult Classics in Third Party Lenses

It is a series 1 cult classic lens (highly rated).

(I have the 35-85mm Kiron made).

Vivitar 35-70 f2.8-3.8

I have one of these too. Lovely lens. On par with the Tamron Adaptall 35-70 model 09A, which I also use.

I have looked in vain for info on this lens. There is a similar, later version from 1986 that has a 58mm filter thread, with different macro (close focus) settings. I don't know who made it but probably Cosina looking at the year. These I have found on ebay occasionally but I know nothing on performance. Probably inferior as ours are Komine built. I wonder who built the one discussed on Flickr.

My 1986 copy of 'Which Camera' shows it (the later version)selling at 100, compared to the Tamron 3.5 at 99, Canon 3.5 at 110, the Tokina ATX 2.8 at 130 and the Pentax A f4 at 140.

My copy was made in 1985, yours in 1983 so it seems I have one of the last batch before the lens was redesigned.

Russ - Lord Vivitar sir. You don't know me but I feel I know you after reading your posts over the years. If you are watching - anything in your archives?

I can add a third lens to the collection here but I don't have any more info than anyone else it seems. Mine is a 28208xxx (1982) serial number.

I haven't used it in a looong time, and possibly not on a DSLR at all. It might be interesting to compare it to an SMC-A 35-70 /F f 4.0 -- and to add some comments to the PF lens review section too.

I recall that it was a very close IQ match to a Tamron Adaptall-2 28-70 F3.5-4.5 (44A) and I never had an issue using either one on film. (The Tammy does fine on my DSLRs as well.) I don't see any indication that it was ever branded as a Series 1 lens but, based on results at the time, it certainly could have been IMO. Just as certain of the Tamron Adaptall-2 lenses could have had SP status except for the plastic grips and the attempt to target a lower end of the price range against the new AF lenses appearing on the market at that time.
