Trade my DFA 100mm for 77mm Limited

Bought a DFA 100mm macro from a forum member here about 2 weeks for $425. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, then saw someone on Craigslist that wants to trade his 77mm Limited for 100mm Macro so I jumped on it.. Wondering if I made the right decision.

So if I understand correctly, you essentially bought FA 77 ltd for $425. Granted that it is in acceptable condition, I think it is a steal. Holy crap. Almost too good to be true.

Um, Yes. A good deal for what you paid for the DFA 100mm.

Just resell the FA77 and rebuy the FA 100 if you think it was a bad decision.

it depends on what purpose you are going to use the lens. if you want something with a wider FOV at the short telephoto range, the 77mm would be great. not to mention that it is a faster lens, both on AF speed and aperture speed. and the much shallower DOF.

if you need longer, the 23mm advantage of the 100 macro will surely be missed. but that is if I were comparing it to a 70mm, which is 30mm short of 100. but anyways, I think you can just simply crop the 77mm images and still be able to get great results. as for macro purpose, there are some here that said that the 77mm produces great macro results even when used with a Raynox diopter lens.

as far as pricing goes, the $400+ pricetag is a steal as long as the 77mm lens is in very good condition (working aperture, no optical scratches or dust and fungus, no bf/ff, filter ring is not broken, cosmetically sound though I don't mind normal wear).

a mint 77mm sells on average around 550-600 used, sometimes 700, but you'd be better buying a brand new for the same price or slightly more. so you somehow saved $200-$400 (varies due to seller, charges and condition of the lens).

OMG. Just test the bokeh on this bad boy and it is silky smooth. I'll have an opportunity to use this lens for a lingeries shoot this Saturday...

To assess the quality of lenses IQ, would you please post the lingerie shoot images on this site

Great lens and great deal. Just make sure you block him from email, so you don't hear him emailing you back saying water leaked in =P

If you have to ask that question you don't deserve the lens.

Enjoy it, you just got the bargain of the year.
