It would be very interesting to see/read a comparative review of the Sigma 18-250mm OS HSM and Pentax DA18-250mm on a Pentax dSLR. The Sigma is well regarded by the Canikon community, partly because the bodies don't have IS. On the other hand, the DA18-250mm is very well regarded by the Pentax community including by some professionals (eg https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/93367-k-7-steve-kr...gua-6962m.html with the DA18250mm!).

Overall many threads told of lot of good of both lenses, but ... the DA18-250mm is discontinued and the Sigma 18-2500 OS HSM is dearer. Not the perfect world for the Pentax community until a new 18-250mm WR comes out. (Pentax, do you listen ?)

If I were guessing, I'd guess that the new lens will be 18-270.

The 18-250mm lens seems to be the best of the superzooms, considering that the 18-200mm from both Sigma and Tamron were pretty bad in quality and in zoom style (it went out almost 3 times the length of the lens when fully zoomed in). Not to mention that you could probably never get a photo in focus at 250mm, not that you'd want to keep it because of the poor quality wide open on it.

Fully agree. The DA18-250mm is highly regarded including by professionals. A great pity it is discontinued.
