Very nice. It appeared in a square format on this smaller monitor, cropping off the bottom, which worked quite well, too.

Those wet leaves...Good heavens I can't believe what this lens can do. (With a good photographer anyway, excellent work)

I've gone from guilt to eager anticipation and a feeling of,

Here's one from last year, since we had almost no snow this year. Originally shot in portrait mode, this crop is a bit less than half the frame.

Has anyone here every tried their 28-75 with a Tamron-F Pz-AF 1.4x teleconverter? Just out of curiosity this afternoon I mounted it with my 28-75 to see how it compared to my 50-135. I was actually pretty surpirsed at how quick the AF was and I thought the IQ was actually pretty good. Obviously you lose a stop of light and some IQ in exchange for an range of around 40-105. In the end I'm not sure if you'd be better off cropping w/o the teleconverter, but for what it's worth it worked a lot better than I thought it would.

Tamron 28-75/2.8

To be perfectly honest, I bought the lens solely for this event and have hardly used at all since then. I have very little use for it and often have considered selling it. The problem is that it is a fine lens, and that it constitutes one-half of my zoom/af lenses (the other being the Tamron 17-50/2.8). Those rare times I need zoom/af and something over 50mm....this is all I have.

Plus the fact that I have yet to see anyone here who sold this lens and didn't later regret having done so.

While I still consider the DA*16-50 and 50-135 as the heart of my kit, if there are ever times when I can't bring any extra lenses, the Tamron 28-75 is my choice. Until just today (when I sold my FA-50), I had 4 lenses that could cover 50mm, too much overlap! I've thought many times about getting rid of the Tamron but it's just too darn useful. I could wish for it to be a little wider and have toyed with the idea of picking up that Sigma 24-70 as a replacement, but what I might gain in focal length I'm afraid I'd give up in image quality.

Incredible detail in those shots Mike. Be really hard to give up that kind of image quality if you didn't absolutely need to.

---sorry, couldn't resist! I know what you mean, I own the Tammy 17-50mm, and constantly toy with the idea of picking up its big brother, the 28-75mm, but then, should I sell the 17-50 (which I should under these circumstances) I'll miss my favorite focal range for hiking. This gets my brain calculating all the various permutations of sales and buys that could be done to leave me "better off." Life really is about learning to be happy with what you have, instead of being unhappy with what you don't have. It's just this awful pestilence of LBA which gets inside and works you once in a while--

LOL Jewelltrail! Yea that darn LBA! Actually I think I'm pretty well set, thus my sale of the FA 50, although J.Sherman has really got me thinking how nice the DA 15 might be...

Really, I've been wanting to "get down to basics", less is more, you know? I'm sure I could do just as well with a few less lenses- but I don't think my Tamron is one of them!

To add some fuel to the fire, here is a bokeh test with my tamron 28-75 at f4. Seven blades is just great. It's my favorite walk around lens.
