Pentax 18-55mm WR Lens Opinions & Sample Images

Anyone care to share any?

I am considering this lens as a temp stop gap for europe to go with my DA* 50-135mm as I don't have the money atm for a DA* 16-50.

All 18-55 WR pictures, in a challanging situation. I had to go wide, fully open, and high ISO.

Check out the Kit Lens Club thread for zillions of sample images. The "WR" version is the same optically as both the "II" and "L" versions. Build-wise, it's noticeably nicer.

And here you have some samples at the other end of the spectrum: stoped down, low ISO, tripod and good lighitng:

Collection: ~ Burning Man 2009 ~

3/4 of these photos were taken with the DA 18-55WR.

It's a great lens. Not as good as my Sigma 17-70, but much better than expected. And it's quite compact, which is perfectly aligned with the intended purpose I have for this lens (hiking and outside walks in challenging weather). The other such option is the 16-50, which is much larger.

Check the 2010 winter pictures in my gallery for samples.

I don't love mine, but for general purpose shooting or poor weather shooting, it's worth more than it's price. For example, last night I went out on a shoot in Philly only to run into a quick shower. Rather than having to wait, I used the 18-55WR until the rain passed and then tossed on the DA15. It's a nice to have lens. Optically it is pretty decent around F8.0.
