Unfortunately that Canon lens is not compatible with your k-x. If you want a similar type of lens, you would want to get the Pentax FA50 f/1.4.

You can read some reviews of the Pentax lens:

Amazon.com: Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens: Electronics

Pentax Lens Review and Specification Database - 50mm F1.4

If you scroll down, KEH has a used Pentax FA50 f/1.4 at BGN quality for $235. It looks like new that lens sells for over $350 most places.

It's a nice lens....If you shoot Canon.

It is not compatible with your K-X. You generally want to buy lenses that are "Pentax Mount"...

Avoid buying Nikon and Canon brand lenses.

That's a good lens, better built than the 50mm f/1.8 from Canon, worth the extra overhead.

It's not compatible w/ Pentax cams as others have mentioned, but all is not lost ----> I switched to Pentax for their primes, and their FA 50mm f/1.4 is the best among the popular f/1.4 primes, in my opinion.

Agreed that the FA 50mm is probably the best new autofocus OEM 50mm prime besides the Canon 50mm f/1.2L (which costs ~$1500 )

As has been said, it won't work on your Kx.

And if you were a Canon shooter I'd point you to the Sigma 50mm 1.4 over the Canon.

This Canon is optically fine but the motor is prone to failure.

One reason I went with the 85mm f/1.8

It is! Pretty much regarded as the best "bang-for-your-buck" lens in Canon-land.

I see very little reason to spend $1300 MORE on the 85mm f/1.2 L.

Pretty sharp wide open, insanely fast autofocus (great basketball lens), becomes insanely sharp from f/2.8 on. Great bokeh. Only downside is the purple fringing wide open (but most fast lenses have this problem to some extent)

Only thing that really sucks is the hood. It's a "clip-on" flimsy piece of plastic that spins around freely. oh well....

From my limited time with the 77mm Limited, Canon's 85mm hold its own...
