Comparison images Tamron 17-50 vs DA 18-55II?

I've posted a few in there from my 17-50. Here's a link to my 17-50 shots on Flickr. There's a certain monotony to them, as I've only used the lens a couple of times apart from one dance event.

The kit lens is a great lens. It is light and small with good IQ
If you need the constant 2.8 aperture get the Tamron but its a bit big and heavy

Just to give another perspective, I don't find the Tamron 17-50 to be big or heavy at all. The Pentax 16-50 is big and heavy. The Tamron 28-75 is bigger and heavier than the Tamron 17-50, but still not particularly big or heavy. I am actually quite impressed with what Tamron was able to pack into the relatively small package of the 17-50/2.8. It's a great lens.
