Tamron 500mm f/8 mirror versus Sigma 400mm f/5.6

So, I was debating changing/upgrading my long range lens the 500mm Tamron SP mirror (55BB, so it's actually quite good). I was wondering if there would be any sense in going to something a little shorter but faster - the Sigma 40mm f/5.6 non-APO AF lens. It's fairly cheap (150GBP), and if it was the APO version I would be all over it. It does also have AF as well, but I've gotten pretty apt at manually focusing my lenses.

So I guess my question is, which would have better IQ?

check those out and see if you can see the difference. Some of these shots, at least, seem to be taken with the APO version, but I'm not sure how to tell it Non-APO.

How much is the APO vs Non-APO version of the Sigma?
