I have the tamron, and yes it can be slightly soft at f2.8 but sharpens up nicely,

I dont have an FA 1.4 just SMC Pentax and super tak F1.4 lenses.

they are really quite different from the tamron.

the tamron is a general purpose fast zoom, the 50mm I use for low light and shallow DOF.

I have both and I love em! The Tammy is my walk around lens though.

Sharpness wide open? Well, this is my Exhibit A. f2.8 at 1/80 sec. All I did was add 10% contrast in LR.

I just have waaaaay too much fun with the FA50 to ever give up this baby.

I spend most of my time with the 50/1.4 at F1.4 - F2, although I go sometimes to F4 if sharpness is the priority. It's my go-to when I need to either keep my shutter speed up, shoot in low light, or have shallow DOF (or all three!)

Should I keep my FA 50mm F1.4 or buy the Tamron 28-75 F2.8
