Pentax Extension Tubes

Seen a set of pentax extension tubes for sale, were decribed as manual,
Does this mean no aperture coupling for green button operation
in manual mode? or no lens info availible to camera body?

Pentax never made an extension tube with A contacts. The manual set lacks the lever for the auto aperture control on the k and M lenses while the auto set and longer tubes (50 & 100mm) have the lever. However, the green button is actually for situations like this. The confusion arises because the terminology applied to the automatic diaphragm was created before A series and newer lenses.

Edit: Go to Dimitrov's site and scroll down for info on them if you haven't already.

Extension tubes

Hi Blue,
Thanks, took a look at that, was always under impression tubes were availible
with "A" contacts, I was wrong. The way I understand this now is...
auto-extension tubes have apeture coupling lever and manual tubes do not.

Third-party tubes are available with the contacts.

I'll try and dig up my set and check the brand. Pro/Optic I *think*.
