It's difficult to name just one lens. But I think there really should be something like a DA* 20mm f/2 - and one that doesn't rely on current SDM technology.

lars, are you sure that f2 is enough for you? I mean for a dream lens, that seems to be a lil bit conservative dont you think? why not make it f1.4 ?
A 24-28mm F1.4
Size: Maximum 5cm (2 inches)
Price $400USD.
Limited build quality and optics.

Sounds good to me, but F1.4 is not necessary for my use. I have had F1.4 and F1.7 lenses but sold them as I usually stop down to F2.8-F11. However, I believe F2.0 can be useful for low light portraits.

Kind regards

let's dream

OK, here's another dream lens:
5-100mm, f/1
Yes, I can visualize its size. About like a beer keg.

But this is dreamland, ain't it?

Wide primes with superfast apertures (1.2 to 1.8) star or limited build quality, manual focus is fine with me.

More limited style WR lenses, I bought the D-FA 100mm Macro WR last week in a heartbeat. Maybe a remake of the M 135mm f2,5 as a D-FA ltd lens.

oh yeah, I forgot about the Sigma 150/2.8 macro in K-mount. for $700 bucks, that is a steal and would certainly get one in a heartbeat.
Since Sigma discontinued the 180mm f3.5 macro, the least they could do is release the 150mm f2.8 in K-mount. It seems like it would be to their advantage in fact since no one else has a long macro in k-mount including Pentax.

I bet they re-release it with HSM. Just a guess.

It would be awesome to see a weather-resistant 12-60mm f2.8, without HSM/SDM.

I'd probably pay upto a grand for that and then weld it to my K20D :-)

I'd be very surprised to ever see a manual focus DSLR lens released ever again, cut out too much of the market

Actually, Pentax is currently making the A 50mm f1.2 lenses at their Vietnam factory.

I stand corrected, didn't know about that.
How about a new lens with no AF?

No new designs to my knowledge. The only new MF lens I know of in the last 15 years was the 43mm Special version of the ltd with matching finder that they made for the rangefinder bodies.

Samyang is still putting out new manual focus DSLR lenses - the 85 being the most popular current example, but there are other too, with other still that have been announced.

A 12-60/2.8 - you do realize that such a lens would probably weigh over 5 pounds?
