Size matters, to me. If I am going to buy something as big as the DA14, I'd rather get the zoom and go wider. I don't really need the extra stop much. The DA15 goes everywhere.
that's the major downside of the DA14. it's size is worth of that of a zoom.

It really isn't all that much smaller or lighter than the 12-24, and is very close to the same size (though much lighter) than the A15/3.5.

Well, now I have to choose between the DA 15 and DA 12-24. I primarily want an all purpose lens kit and it is going to look like this DA15 or DA 12-24, FA31, FA50/1.4, FA77 and DA 300.

Thank you everyone for your input about the wide angle lens. I'm leaning to the DA 12-24......but.......

A 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye! Small like DA15, fast like DA14. And you get fisheye, especially on film!

I have the DA14 f28, the DA15 f4 Limited and the DA12-24 f4. I rarely use the DA12-24 due to it's size, lack of DOF scale and the fact that it's minimum focus distance is only 300mm as opposed to the DA14 - 170mm and the DA15 - 180mm.

I now usually have the DA15 in my bag mostly due it it's diminutive size and exemplary IQ.

I only have the 12-24 so i cant compare. I am going to get the 15mm at some stage. The 12-24 is great lens, just big.. I did find it hard to get decent shots indoors handheld, but outside it is awesome.

I had the 14mm and liked it quite a bit but when I compared it to my 16-50, I found there was a warm colour-cast to the 14mm and it didn't quite match the sharpness of the 16-50. I also found that with the 14mm, I couldn't use my landscape filters on a cokin P holder without vignetting. With the 15mm, it maintains the neutral colours of the DA*, is much smaller than the 14mm and you only loose a stop. As for filters, my Singh-rays are back in action . I'd therefore choose the 15mm without any hesitation.
