I'm really surprised by the number of votes for the 43mm 1.9. This lens really hasn't been on my radar. Why have almost half the voters put this as one of their votes?

I guess I'm saying, someone introduce me to the true beauty that is this lens that I'm not understanding.

Some say the FA43 Ltd is a bit soft wide open... for me I have not found this to be the case... from 2.5 onwards its stellar sharp and produces images like no other lens.

Images can seem to have a 3d effect.

here are a few images from the FA Limited thread showing off the 43Ltd... and there are many more in that thread... take a look

Please note these are not my photos and I hope the members who took them do not mind me using them as examples in this thread.

let's just say that the FA43 is the longer version of the FA31.

I chose the FA 50 macro and the A 50/1.2. The DA* 55 is a thought, but I would rather have the light gathering of the 1.2.
me too

of course I didn't tested all of them but had few 50mm for comparision and still have 43mm.

FA43 and A50 1:1.2

A50 1:1.2 I have and it seems I use it the most these days.

I do want FA43 though, since from what I keep seeing in other's pictures, It would give me the rendering not unlike FA31, one that I`m very fond of.

Well, I voted for those two which I have in my sig. K55/1.8 and FA43/1.9... if I could pick third one, it would be either K or A 50/1.2
although, I have to admit that combo of 43/1.9 and DA*55 is VERY tempting indeed

Well, I thought the poll was "if you could only keep 2 lenses in the 50mm(ish) range"... out of the lenses you have. However, the Helios 44-M and the Zeiss Planar in my bag are better (to me) than a 43 ltd I haven't ever touched, so I guess my answer still stands.

The DA*/1.4 SDM and the A/1.2 are now in a dead heat. Entirely unexpected, although in all fairness and disclosure they're the two I voted for

I voted for the K50/1.2 because it is the fastest & has the best bokeh and for the K50/4 Macro because it is the sharpest. The K55/1.8 would be my next choice. Phil.

Actually, I'm not surprised at the number of votes the 43 is getting given that this is for a pair of lenses. I actually voted for it with the 2nd lens the A 50mm f1.2. I currently have the FA 50mm f1.4 and keep thinking about selling it and getting the 43mm since I have the A f1.2. I am surprised at the separation from the top 3 lenses and the rest though.

Edit: For the hypothetical scenario: 1. FA 43mm ltd (replace the FA 50mm) 1. A 50mm f1.2

That frog image is excellent! When I'm looking through images from the 31mm and 43mm, I find myself liking about 2x more images from the latter.

43mm your second pick?

I've been wondering if the 43mm was everyone's second pick or your first?
