Price Drop on Sigma 100-300mm EX DG

My shopping cart at B&H for F/4 EX DG shows USD $1,099, a drop of $100 if I recall correctly. Appears to be non-HSM.

Other retailers are still at $1,199, for both HSM and non-HSM. That doesn't seem right, somehow. The older screw-drive should be dropping in price now, right? I hope!

What am I missing?

That lens is screw-drive only in Pentax mount. It's price dropped quite a bit in UK as well, so maybe new HSM version is on the way...

I'll never forget when these were selling for $750.00 on Amazon for about 3 days a while ago. Biggest regret I have is not buying 1.

That's a great price for an amazing lens. I still think this is the highest quality lens Sigma ever made.

That did not help my self-discipline regarding the annual photo budget. I was working on it last night and felt sort of OK. Now .... different story.

Those were wonderful photos and I'm now imagining airshows, fly-ins, and a London holiday with that lens.

Now I have to think if I want to shoot with a second body - the 100-300 on one hip and, perhaps, the Sigma 17-70 workhorse on the other. I tried that the last two weekends just driving through rural Wisconsin. Loved the ability to see a different view (at a dramatically different focal length) and going for it while the light and subject were just right. Helps keep dust out of the camera, as well.

OK - Sigma 100-300, UV filter, CPL perhaps, BlackRapid double strap, sturdier tripod ..... this is getting out of hand and it's all your fault!
