Modified lens?

I've recently come across a modified AF pentax k-mount lens where the pin was cut to fit another Digital camera. What will happen to the functions once it is attached to a pentax camera again? And can it be fixed?

Thanks

T.

Maybe post a picture of the mount and someone here can help you.

Sounds like the lens was cut to fit EOS body. Depends on the model, that pin (lever) might be replaced easily in most cases so long as Pentax still have that part. Without the lever, the aperture will be full manual only.

Here is a pic of the mount as you can see the pin has been cut. Can this be fixed? would something like this need to be sent to a professional to be fixed or could it be fixed by an inexperienced person like myself do it?

If it were an expensive lens, I'd contact Eric Hendrickson. Otherwise, if I wanted the lens and it were cheap, I'd find a donor lens of similar type to salvage the mechanism from. This must be one heck of a lens for a canon goober to goober it up.

I say make them suffer for not simply selling their K-mount version and buying the lens in EOS mount.

You should first look up the new price of the lens in K-mount. I don't think it would be worth buying a hacked up copy for more than half of this price. The repair is probably not hard; you might just glue on a new aperture lever. There's plenty of surface area and not much force involved. Or Sigma may have parts.
