DA 16-45+50-200 vs Tamron 18-250

What are the pros/con on these zoom lens choices for K10D? I have a Sigma 18-125, and I'm not too happy with the distortion and vignetting.

1) DA 16-45 f/4 + DA 50-200 f4-5.6
2) Sigma 15-50 f2.8 EX + DA 50-200 f4-5.6
3) Tamron 18-250 f3.5-5.6
4) other combination covering 16 thru 200 or 250?

I'm especially interested in the optical performance, and quality. Any first hand experience and/or observation, let's hear it.

I'm on a budget that rules out the DA*'s.

If you're not happy with your Sigma 18-125, I seriously doubt you'd be happy with the Tamron... it's nearly a 14x zoom, IMO there are going to be too many compromises there. I think two lenses covering the same range would definitely be a better choice. The 16-45 is a very good lens... and if you want something faster you could look at the Sigma f/2.8. The Tamron 18-50 f/2.8 has been very well received, but I don't think there's a date yet on when it will be available for K-mount. The 50-200mm is apparently pretty good, and consider that it is very affordable and its small size makes it very practical. Another option if you wanted more reach would be something like a Tamron or Sigma 70-300, but those lenses would be larger and maybe not quite as flexible as one starting at 50mm.

As a broad generalization, I tend to agree with you. On the other hand, I'm seeing a lot of positive standalone review, but not actual comparison against these other lenses. Some people here have attested to zoom being able to hold their own against primes, so I'm at a lost...

The Sigma 18-50 f2.8 is 2nd on my list. How does it stack up against the 16-45?

There is a 17-50 at SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF); Tamron USA, Inc., I presume this is what you are referring to? Looks like they don't offer a Pentax mount to date

Apparently a lot of people here vouch for it. What I cannot tell is whether the latest and greatest tamron 18-250 beats the older 50-200.

I don't mind a mid sized lens. Thanks for the tip, I glossed over the tamron 70-300 ... need to do some research. I've seen some reviews that the Sigma 70-300 is quite soft?
